Delphinium Festival

The year marks the 6th year celebrating the Delphinium Festival July 6 & 7, 2013 at Plant Paradise Country Gardens which has expanded to include two full days of fun-filled activities, “All About Delphiniums.”

The festival includes gardening workshops/seminars, guided talk and tours of the botanical gardens, raffle, music, refreshments and much more. The Ontario Delphinium Club, local horticultural societies and artisans displaying their original one-of-a-kind art.

July 6, 2013
10:00am | Delphinium Companions in the Perennial Border
Horticulturist and author of the book, A Recipe for Continuous Bloom,
Lorraine Roberts will introduce you to the best companion plants for
Delphiniums. All proceeds from this workshop are donated to the SHARE
Agriculture Foundation.

11:00am | Guided talk & tour of the Botanical gardens (free)

12:00pm | Great Gardening Tips with Charlie Dobbin (Free)
Charlie Dobbin is a well known horticulturist and landscape designer that
hosts the Garden and Home Show on The New AM 740. During her two-decade
career, she has become well known for her professional gardening seminars
and demonstrations, as well as for her prolific articles in newspapers and
magazines. On HGTV, Charlie co-hosted the TV show, One Garden, Two Looks.
She is also the Horticultural Director for Canada Blooms.

1:00pm | All About Delphiniums
Back by popular demand, Christine Gill, from the Ontario Delphinium Club,
will be discussing how to grow and care for delphiniums.

10:00am | The Art of Photographing Flowers & Gardens
Cliff Smith, graduate of the Ontario College of Art, presents a fun and
informative workshop that explores alternative ways to view your subject. He
goes through a variety of principles, with examples, to help you see “like
an artist” the many options of creating beautiful photographs. Tripod

11:00am | Guided talk & tour of the Botanical gardens (free)

12:00pm | Free Concert

1:00pm | Floral Arranging with Fresh Flowers
Trish Symons, horticultural and floral design judge, will demonstrate how to
create 3 different award winning fresh flower arrangements. Afterwards, we
will raffle off the three arrangements to 3 lucky workshop participants.
