The Ontario Rock Garden & Hardy Plant Society will meet Sunday, January 8th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The meeting will feature John Lonsdale of Edgewood Gardens.
On December 1st head over to the Toronto Botanical Garden for the Holiday Market and Open House. There will be a wide array of artisans and farmers’ market vendors, and the Garden Shop will be open for extended hours. The Weston Family Library will also be hosting a gently-used gardening book sale.
Join us on November 5th for the Sugar Blossom Workshop at the Toronto Botanical Gardens. In this two day introduction you will learn how to artfully produce beautiful (and edible!) flowers including roses, cymbidium orchids and small blossoms for your cakes.
Join Alan Li at the Toronto Botanical Gardens on November 12, as he demonstrates how to capture the shapes and textures of natural objects.
Ontario honey comes in myriad flavours, textures, scents and nuances based on floral sources and geography. On November 22, attend a tutored taste tour by beekeeper and instructor Cathy Kozma students will refine their palates, explore the honey-making process and experience a selection of Ontario’s finest varieties.
Our cities are largely covered by impermeable surfaces – roofs, parking lots, roads, even compacted soil – which contribute to water pollution, flooding and bank erosion in urban ravines. On November 21, Sean James will demonstrate how gardeners can help turn the tide on this troubling situation with beautiful water-protecting landscapes.
