Shannon Lee Stirling has been growing gardens since she was a child. Inspired by her permie-guru of a father, she developed curiosity of the world’s natural cycles. Moving out on her own at 17, realizing the disconnections in our food, housing, medical and social systems, she set out to find ways to reconnect. Shannon grew food, built houses, and studied natural health including a yoga teacher’s certification and training in herbal medicine, and massage. She became involved with community building, place making and creative ways to engage in society and move towards a life that is in balance with the natural world. In 2009, Shannon held the position of Project Coordinator for Backyard Bounty – an urban farming business in its first season in Guelph. In this capacity she coordinated the first Urban Agriculture Symposium at the University of Guelph. She also became involved with the GFRT and has most recently found herself working with Foodshare as a facilitator of youth urban agriculture projects. Flower Show, refreshments after the presentation. Guest Night, free admission.
