In its twelfth year, this popular self-guided tour of hidden gardens is also a walking tour through Toronto’s Heritage Conservation District called Cabbagetown, HCD, which, according to the New York Times, contains the largest collection of Victorian homes in North America.
On-site gardeners, Toronto Master Gardeners as well this year’s “Garden Guru”, Paul Zammit of Niagara College, will be available to answer questions about the creative use of small spaces, the challenges of urban wildlife, and the choice of suitable plants and other materials.
Money raised goes to the Cabbagetown Preservation Association (CPA), which raises awareness to protect the architectural integrity and historic character of the neighbourhood.
Visit cabbagetownpa.ca for more information and to buy vouchers for tickets online or to see the list of ticket booklet vendors in the city.
