Heading into their 5th year, the organizers of the annual Garden Days want to list as many events as possible. Garden Days 2018 opens on National Garden Day, Saturday, June 16, and runs from June 16 to 24.
Garden Days is organized by the Canadian Garden Council, an industry group that promotes garden visitation, but it thrives on the local volunteers and groups who create special reasons for people to visit a garden during the nine-day event.
In 2017, there were over 300 activities connected with Garden Days across Canada.
Groups are invited to register their local Garden Day events for free at gardendays.ca. These can be special activities or promotions at a garden, garden centre, school, community facility or business. Groups such as horticulture societies, garden clubs, Master Gardeners and others are encouraged to launch a new activity or align already-planned events to take place between June 16 and 24.
“Garden Days encourages personal connections with gardens and garden experiences,” says Garden Days Committee Chair Liz Klose. “It supports local garden services such as landscapers, nurseries and garden centres as well as promoting community greening and beautification, sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.”
