This is an updated and expanded edition of Oudolf’s popular book, first published 30 years ago, that introduced us to the beauty and benefits of using native and naturalistic plants in our gardens.

The edition includes new plants and plant combinations, as well as plans of iconic designs in the US, Sweden and The Netherlands. The first half of the book contains detailed plant descriptions; the second covers designing with this all-season plant palette.

“Gardeners in the US and Canada are now discovering the value of their own flora,” writes Noel Kingsbury in the introduction. “New selections of natives appear all the time. The perennial industry has now really developed a life of its own.”

Winner of a copy of the book

Congratulations to Debby M. of Sperling, Manitoba, who was selected as the winner of a copy of the book from Garden Making. Debby’s entry was randomly selected from 368 entries in March 2020.

  1. I have been an avid reader of your magazine since it’s inception!!! The hard copies are my “go to” resource each time I need to know the straight forward method to tackle a gardening issue. . I was extremely disappointed when you had to move to the on line method, but am so happy that your company is still producing Canadian gardening information!!!
    Thank You and Happy Gardening!

  2. I feel the same way – it is too sad not to have Canadian-oriented magazine. Garden Making was always a great source of practical advice for Canadian gardeners as well as for inspiration. I am glad to receive the newsletter and hope that you will be able to continue a long time, Beckie. Many thanks.

  3. I do enjoy your newsletter and your tips and other tidbits. I’ve past along some of them to fellow gardeners as well. I still feel sad that here in Canada, we have so few gardening magazines.. Keep up the challenge Beckie.
