The Gardens of Uxbridge Annual Garden Tour has been a highlight on the Ontario garden tour calendar for 28 years. Each summer up to 8 local residences are opened to the public in support of the charitable efforts of the Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario. The Society has restored and maintains the Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site.

The Gardens of Uxbridge Tour is a showcase of the wonderful gardens created in and around Uxbridge Township. During the event, guests are invited to explore the gardens outside of each home on the Tour between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, rain or shine. This year a limited edition ticket is also available for a Tour & Talk with Afternoon Tea and a book signing, featuring Rick Grey, co-author of the Globe & Mail bestselling book The Gardener’s Guide to Native Plants of the Southern Great Lakes Region. The book event will be held at 4:00pm on June 15.

The self-guided tour (with driving maps provided) typically includes country gardens and town gardens. Volunteers are assigned to each home to greet guests and provide information. Homeowners – the gardeners themselves – are often on site to explain their garden creations. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy a day exploring the countryside north of Toronto.
