Learn about invasive species from Dog Strangling vine to jumping worms. Derissa Vincentini is the Community Action Leader at the Invasive Species Centre in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology along with obtaining a certificate in Geomatics from Algoma University. In her role, Derissa coordinates invasive species education and outreach initiatives, and promotes community action to mitigate the spread of invasive species in Ontario. This includes the coordination of the Early Detection and Rapid Response Program that relies on community science to help prevent, detect, and monitor new invasions. Derissa believes everyone in the community has a role to play in protecting Canada’s forests and waterways and is passionate about sharing the tools and knowledge to do so.
