March General Meeting – an Exploration of Hardscape Plants
March 7 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
MARCH GENERAL MEETING: GUEST SPEAKER JONAS SPRING, “AN EXPLORATION OF HARDSCAPE PLANTS”
Following an extensive review of plants that grow on cliffs and alvars around southern Ontario, Jonas Spring has identified a palette of commercially available hardy, local and beautiful plants that thrive in cracks and crevices. He will share insights about these “hardscape plants” and their successful use in urban and suburban environments like patios, walkways, stairs, roofs, terraces, and balconies.
Jonas Spring operates Ecoman (www.Ecoman.ca), a Toronto-based landscape design and construction business that works to enhance and increase green space through proactive and thoughtful ecological design. He holds a certificate in landscape design from Ryerson University and a Bachelor of Science in Agroecology from the University of British Columbia. Jonas is passionate about working with natural systems and ecological references to put spaces to their highest use, and his “Cliff City” exhibit won the “Most Imaginative Garden Design” award at Canada Blooms in 2019.
